The honest answers

Your files stay on hardware you own.

Can a host read my files?

Everything stays on hardware you own — a copy is never parked on someone else's server. Client-side encryption, so even a host stores only what it can't open, is on the way.

What if someone closes their laptop?

Nothing of yours lives on one machine. Every service runs on at least two, and Captain rebuilds the missing copy elsewhere within minutes. You never notice.

Will it slow down my laptop?

You set the ceiling per device — how much storage it may lend and how much CPU it may use while you're away. Quiet hours keep your workday untouched, and it yields the instant you type.

How much will I actually earn?

A typical always-on laptop makes $8–18 a month from storage. Add a machine that can serve a model and it's $40–85. You're paid for capacity actually consumed, not for being listed.

Who is behind this?

The client is open source. You can read every line that runs on your machine, and pull out with one command — no lock-in.

How it works

From a drawer of old laptops to a running data center.

01
Pool your devices

One line per laptop. It runs unprivileged, never reads your files, and steps aside the second you touch the keyboard.

02CAPT[ai]N
Hook up capt[ai]n

Your AI reads what the hardware can spare, decides what to run, installs it, and repairs it when a laptop closes.

03
Run it, or sell it

Storage, databases and private AI for you. Whatever's still idle goes to the network and pays you for it.

What idle hardware pays

Most laptops sit idle 90% of the day.

Paid per GB-month, per GB-hour and per token, for capacity actually consumed. Withdraw to bank or crypto, no minimum.
